Hi, All. As I continue to peruse low-priced single homes in "Lower Slower DE" I'm noticing a lot of propane tanks - not a fan. My top choice is natural gas, having gown up in a home heated by that method. Not nuts about oil or electric either, having experienced both. Are there any particular areas that you know of that have natural gas lines that you know of? I don't suppose realtors have that info in regards to particular neighborhoods, do they? Thanks |

I can't speak to in town Rehoboth, but as far as I am aware there is no natural gas in Rehoboth. I believe the lines start in and around Plantation Road at the border between Lewes and Rehoboth. I know the new NV homes in the Redden Ridge development have gas. |

Thanks Plenty of areas! Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Milton, etc. We have transplant friends in Rehoboth Beach and Lewes and they have natural gas. https://naturalgaslocal.com/states/d...ehoboth-beach/ And, yes. Realtors have all of that information at their fingertips, as it is noted on their multi list printouts of listings/sales. |

Great to hear!!! I'm also investigating Lancaster County, PA because of its breathtaking countryside (although I'm sure it will be raped over the next decades) and because U of Penn has taken on Lancaster General Hospital. This is an important issue; I've had one bad experience in a "podunk" hospital which I WILL NOT repeat. Now that IS a concern with DE, and I'm hoping that, with the increasing retirement migration, DE will look into being taken on by a world-class "big brother." Probably a pipe dream, though. |

Good to know about natural gas. That is on our list as well. It would not be a deal breaker but the healthcare is a huge consideration. We keep hoping we will hear more positive things about healthcare in Sussex County. Like you, I am surprised with the amount of retirees it's not better. Unfortunately, working in healthcare I see the constant flow of people who still drive to MD or PA for care. I suppose we could do it but certainly not forever. For us, is the missing piece of the puzzle. |

Sadly I believe healthcare in Sussex is a deal breaker for us. Would you mind briefly elaborating on U of Penn taking on Lancaster General Hospital ? As well as any other hospitals with advanced world class healthcare in that area. |

Thanks for the heads up on Lancaster county medical. We have been using UPenn for over 40 years. PA is a beautiful state. Lots of great car/day trips in PA. Regarding Nat Gas. I went thru this 2 years ago with a realtor in Lewes. Also spent an entire day reading all I could dig up doing Google searches. A lot of propane in lower DE. In some communities with long term contracts locked in. 100 years in one community I liked. So don't count on an easy change over such as in parts of NJ or other. Since not a lot of Nat Gas in lower DE pricing can be higher than in established areas such as NJ, at least that is what I came to understand. But I would think long term pricing would become competitive if more buildout. Suggest you check this out. |

Not to hijack this thread, but you did know that Bay Health Kent General in Dover, and Milford Hospital (Sussex County) are affiliated with U of Penn, didn't you? Milford is building a new state-of-the-art hospital on Coastal Hwy. S. of Milford. |
